See moreChainlink is a decentralized network that provides the necessary real-life data to Ethereum smart contracts.
Smart contracts are software programmed on a blockchain that automatically performs the functions assigned to them, eliminating third parties and making it impossible to manipulate or change them later.
LINK are the tokens used to pay for services provided by the Chainlink network and their transactions are processed on the Ethereum network.
Chainlink has a maximum supply of 1 billion LINK tokens.
To allow communication between blockchain-based smart contracts, Chainlink follows a three-step process:
1. Oracle Selection: A Chainlink user drafts a service level agreement (SLA) that specifies a certain set of data requirements. The Chainlink software then uses this SLA to match the user with the oracles that can provide the data.
2. Data report: Oracles connect with external data sources to obtain the real-world data requested in the Chainlink SLA.
3. Adding results: The last step in the process is to count the results of the data collected by the oracles and return them to what is known as an aggregation contract.
